We had a Thankgiving Celebration with our Tapestry of Grace Coop this week. Activities included:
Making corn muffins and drinking apple cider
(note-J laying on table as we are trying to make muffins!)
The boys tried their hand at writing Colonial style, with homemade ink and quills
We had two kinds of ink, the one you see C1 using is made of squashed blueberries.

The boys and I also tried to make ink using walnuts. Though the ink didn't come out that great, we had fun with the process. Someone reminded me this week that it is about process, rather than product! We took whole walnuts, put them inside a sock and crushed them with a hammer. Then we took the shells and boiled them and let them sit over night. They had a lot of fun with the smashing, so if you are allergic to walnuts, don't come over anytime soon as I am sure there are shells everywhere!
The girls made corn husk dolls!
We also played lots of Colonial Games, like marbles, pick up sticks, hopscotch and a ring toss.
The boys had a great time!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Sounds like fun! I need to try the quill and ink project. My 5 yo is fascinated with the idea.
